Established in 1973 by Les and Edda Howard in Sydney, Australia, Howards Storage World® began as a single shop called Stack N Store which sold a large selection of organisational products. A partnership was formed with Dirk Spence in 1997 after establishing the Australia-wide potential to expand and develop the Howards Storage World® concept through franchising. The first franchised Store was opened in 1998 and since then, Howards Storage World® has experienced rapid growth. Alex Dobrin became a partner in the company after successfully managing the eighth franchised Store at the Warringah Mall in Sydney, Australia, bringing to the group his vast hands-on retail knowledge.
In 2004, the first International Master Franchise was granted to John Veness for Singapore, and the flagship Singapore Store opened at Parkway Parade Shopping Centre on January 29, 2005. Within a year of operations, Howards Storage World® Singapore was nominated as a finalist in the “Best New Retail Entrant” category during the Singapore Retailer’s Association Awards 2005.
In June 2008, Howards Storage World® opened its second Store in Singapore. Occupying two units at HarbourFront Centre, shoppers will enjoy the same cornucopia of high quality storage products catering to everyone in the family.
The operational structures necessary to support a growing group have been established, with dedicated buying, marketing, sales, merchandising and technical support. All Howards Storage World® franchisees will operate as independent businesses, yet to the public present themselves as one highly co-ordinated group.
